I think a friend of mine was already using this gadget in Canada in 2006. Any activity on his home phone (land line) would call his cell phone and then he could listen in on the conversation going on between his home phone and another party.
But this is a dangerous game. Violating your spouse's privacy in the name of paranoia is not healthy for the marriage. If you strongly suspect something, just use the traditional means to find out. Hire a Private Investigator to track down his/her movements for you.

Technology is gradually becoming the invisible police, the 'Big Brother' keeping an eye on that man chasing a skirt that does not belong to his wife.  And vice versa.

And for Nicholas Odhiambo, a private detective, it puts food on the table .

He has software which when installed in a spouse's phone has their nosy partner reading all their text messages and phone calls-remotely from his or her own phone. 

The software can also locate-through GPS (Global Positioning System) the phone with the software and owner within a  seven-kilometre radius.

It costs Sh25,000 to install, and with that you can get a copy of all text messages, call log, location of the phone and all the names on the phonebook.

The Kenya Police have used the system in resolving crimes  involving mobile phones.

 Besides technology, Odhiambo uses plain old espionage tactics to track down cheating spouses. He says women have more intuition of being 'played' drawing from a decade in the business. 

"Eight times out of ten, when a woman thinks the partner is cheating, then he really is," but men are clueless until the cheating is too obvious.  

 "One challenge of business in this sector is that the  'personal' nature of it makes it difficult to expand and clients want you to handle their cases, without delegating," says Odhiambo.

He handles three cases a week, mostly from referrals.
