Re: [wanabidii] Re: Which is the most Tribalized Country in Africa?

Dear Good People

I think the research is doable and on my opinion its worthwhile to study, looking at the title its not enough to make us judge about its worthiness. Mr. Maurice if you don't mind furnish us with a synopsis of your study proposal ( background to the problem, study objectives, hypotheses/research questions, expected contribution to the body of knowledge, delimitation) including methodology( research design, how to control extraneous variables, population, sample size, sampling procedure, instrumentation and plan of data analysis.

Hopefully all challenges posed by Kilasara and Fatma are likely to be taken into account by the synopsis and that is all about research. Researches are there to uncover what is not seen. It will expose us to the concept tribalism and its forms, strengths and weaknesses of tribalism, why tribalism, is tribalism existing or not, if yes where and how? how does it propagate and how to harness it for the betterment  of our economic, social and political endeavors.

Kilasara,

Naomba nitofautiane nawe kwenye hili jambo Kaka.

Hapo nafikiri tunakubaliana.

Hata kama ipo, itakusaidia nini kuijua! Tukisema ni Kenya au Tanzania, then what? Ndio maana nimesema, ni "relative and subjective." Na hii ina maana, "it is not worthy studying.!

Mchana mwema.

Am afraid, your topic is too subjective and relative, and there is no way, you can point out quite certainly that, this or that society is more tribalistic! Because the mere fact you stand out and say, this or that society is tribalistic or the tenacity of tribal values are more affirmed in this society, you are at the same time becoming judgmental to that society, which is NOT good! The essence of your topic seek in some way to judge other peoples culture while we know quite well that "there is no culture, which is perfect." Why then should you judge it! It is on the same guise, we don't conduct any study between religions, because of the danger of becoming judgmental and falling into the trap of contradiction, and any study that does not add value into the reader, is not worthy undertaking.

"Tribalism" is a relative term, and it does not and it cannot objectively stand on its own! One society is more prone to its cultural values than the other. And given the diversity of cultures in Africa and so our cultural values, which again goes deep down to our religious beliefs. And, the moment you because judgmental to culture, you can not avoid doing the same to the religious beliefs that are embedded and rooted in the culture, which is very dangerous. Indeed, just like you were advised by Fatima, me too I am supporting her, please keep silent about this topic, or leave it at its best!   .

If you have no idea about the topic why not keep silent? Why do you think the article will propagate tribalism in your country?

Gichaba,

Thanks for the offer to help. I will be consulting you as need arises. I'm told that you're quite an authority in subject of Tribalism.

Kiingereza mie siwezi. I'm just a simple rural/country boy from West Ugenya. I just do the best I can. Plus, Engineers are usually not considered authorities in writing or English.

Maurice (#3),

Write that article well because you are carrying Kenya's flag to South Africa. Indeed, I believe, you have a good grip of the English language. Of course, that is after me (#1) and Ms Joe (#2) of Ghana.

Where you need help, consult the master.

I'm doing an article for some South African diaspora magazine and the topic is about tribalism being a major disease in Africa. I'm asking for any information one may have on the subject.

The article needs to answer some questions such as:

Ni nchi ipi Afrika iliyo na ukabila zaidi ya zote Afrika? Ni ipi the least?

Ukabila msingi wake ni nini haswa haswa/ (How did it come about?)

Ukabila unaleta madhara gani kwenye uchumi na siasa za nchi, na unaleta madhara gani kwenye uhusiano wa raia ?

Tunawezaje kuuondoa ukabila from our societies?

How does tribalism influence the way we're perceived internationally?

etc.

Naomba usaidizi.
