Good People,

Invitation to a Round Table Discussion by Corporate Executives with
business in Africa had nothing to do with hired Jet to TZ with other
African Eminent Leaders and with Heroic Nobel Peace Price Award.
However as long as his discussions are of Legitimate Mutual business
undertaking that does not involve stealing or undercutting Public Wealth
and Resources or engage on Drug peddling; but are regulated by the
Peoples Constitutional Jurisdiction and has nothing to do with issues of
Land Grabbing in Africa, we have no problem.

When a politician story is zig-zag, people! We have good reason to be
scared and worried....He is invited by other group of people, and instead
he has the name of the President on top of the subject.....Someone who
like all of us, didnt have any clue what is going on.......Can you imagine
why you good people must be very careful ?? We dont want good name
of our President smeared........Politicians must be straight and be true in
their undertakings..........

There are too many political hot airs and attention some politicians are
specialized to gain public sympathy when the same public are being
stolen from and which good people must beware ....This we will keep
watch .......!!!

We are all for peace and good business where Rights for dignity are
observed and respected.

Cheers !!!

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is scheduled to hold talks in Washington on Tuesday with the second-highest-ranking State Department official, Kenya's US Ambassador Elkanah Odembo has confirmed.
The meeting with Deputy Secretary of State William Burns signifies the Obama administration's appreciation for Mr Odinga's role in helping ensure a peaceful outcome of the March presidential election. Read (Obama praises Raila for respecting election petition outcome)
The Burns - Odinga session will also send a message of US willingness to engage with prominent Kenyan politicians who have not been charged with crimes by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Secretary of State John Kerry, who will be out of town on Tuesday, asked Deputy Secretary Burns to meet with Mr Odinga, Ambassador Odembo said.
To underscore the Obama administration's respect for Mr Odinga's role in Kenya, the
former prime minister is scheduled to attend a dinner on Tuesday evening hosted by Donald Yamamoto, the acting head of the State Department's Africa Bureau.
Mr Odinga has also been invited to take part in a roundtable discussion on Tuesday organised by a grouping of US corporate executives with investment interests in Africa, Ambassador Odembo added.
The Orange Democratic Movement leader's busy day also includes a presentation at the Woodrow Wilson International Centre for Scholars.
Mr Odinga is to speak on the achievements and challenges Africa has faced in the 50 years since Kenya achieved independence.
He is also expected to visit the Library of Congress, which holds a large collection of historical documents from Kenya, Ambassador Odembo said.
On Monday, Mr Odinga is set to meet with the mayor of Philadelphia, the East Coast city where Mr Odinga and his wife, Ida Odinga, attended the university graduation of their daughter, Winnie, on Saturday.
She studied at Drexel University, where she read political science.
Mr Odinga is also scheduled to tour the National Constitution Centre in Philadelphia, the site of the US Constitutional Convention in 1787.

In Summary

  • But group wants Britain to halt funds release until genuine freedom fighters are ascertained
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga personally lobbied British PM David Cameron for an out-of-court settlement for Mau Mau survivors, the Nation has established.
Letters in our possession between Mr Odinga and Mr Cameron show the two leaders settled for a political solution instead of a judicial process to salvage relations between the two countries.
In a letter dated November 2, 2012, Mr Odinga requested Mr Cameron to consider settling the issue away from the courts after the London High Court ruled that the case proceeds to full trial.
"I would like to draw your attention to the Mau Mau cases ... They are likely to open up old wounds and whip up emotions as the court delves into the details," stated Mr Odinga.
In the letters to Mr Cameron, Mr Odinga argued that a full trial might encourage stray suits.
"I believe it would be in our mutual interests to seek an out-of-court settlement in this matter. This would allow the petitioners, who are very advanced in age, to live the remainder of their lives in peace and comfort," said Mr Odinga in the letter.
In his reply on December 13, 2012, Mr Cameron was cautious: "I have taken careful note of your advice to seek an out-of-court settlement," stated Mr Cameron.
At the weekend, Mr Odinga praised Mr Cameron for settling the case out of court.
Meanwhile, Mau Mau freedom fighters from Nyeri County want all beneficiaries of the Sh2.6 billion British Government compensation made public.
Speaking over the weekend at Othaya Stadium, the freedom fighters said they were surprised names of the beneficiaries remained a secret and read mischief.
Mzee John Kiboko said suspicion was rife among Mau Mau War Veterans Association members that most of the genuine freedom fighters were not covered in the compensation deal.

No wonder they got paid peanuts.

The gesture was meant to enhance his would be presidency

Can't you read btw the lines, the hypocrisy with which he handles matters??When dealing with foreigners,he is reasonable and rational, but on internal issues,he is radical.agitating rather for unpragmatic ways of settling disputes

This Mau Mau issue is a very delicate matter which needs to be handled with care. It is still very far from over. It is too soon to start rejoicing over some perceived political victory

The High Court has granted orders requiring deported Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu to appear in court for a hearing of his case on the June 20. Chinedu's family had gone to court seeking orders to have him appear in court as they had accused the state of detaining him and deporting him contrary to court orders staying his deportation. The State has seven days to reply to the application. Chinedu was deported on Monday night alongside six other foreigners who the state had accused of being involved in 'dirty business'. NTV's Sheila Sendeyo reports.

In Summary

  • In a dramatic turn of events, the officials accompanying the Nigerians have not been allowed to leave the country
Seven government officials and five airline crew have been detained in Nigeria for two weeks after they travelled to the country to deport Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu and two of his compatriots.
The officials from different government departments including foreign affairs, immigration and police, left Nairobi for Lagos in a chartered aeroplane on June 3 escorting the controversial businessman and two other Nigerians, Christopher Nnanyelu and Oluwatosin Adebiyi. The three had been declared prohibited immigrants in Kenya.
However, in a dramatic turn of events, the officials have not been allowed to leave Nigeria. They said authorities at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos were holding them and their chartered East African Safari Express plane.
According to them, Nigerian authorities have insisted the Kenyans will not be allowed to fly out without the three men Kenya kicked out on drug trafficking claims.
Speaking to the Daily Nation from Nigeria on Sunday, one of the officials, who requested
anonymity, said that attempts by the Kenyan embassy to secure their release had been unsuccessful.
Escorted deportees
Those stuck in Nigeria include Captain Tim Kavingo and his colleagues, flight engineer Alaka Ochieng' and flight attendants George Kamau and Ismail Adan.
First officer Rokshanker Masoud, a Swede, is also affected.
The government officials who escorted the deportees were Mr Barasa Okosa, Mr Kariuki Ngugi, Mr Mungathia Muriira, Mr Pardala Dipason, Mr Kivuva Muthama, Mr Andrew Kambi and Mr Mutinda Kakindu.
A Nigerian journalist confirmed to the Nation that the aircraft was being held at the airport's cargo air wing. The airline's office in Nairobi did not return our calls on Sunday.
Sources indicated that the government of Sweden had already contacted its embassy in Nigeria to secure the release of the flight officer.
"We are stranded here. The airport commander has instructed that we cannot return to Nairobi without the deportees," said the official who called the Nation from his hotel room.
The airport commander had blocked attempts by the East Africa Safari Express management to fly its crew back to Nairobi on a Kenya Airways flight. On Sunday evening, Foreign Affairs ministry's Head of Communication Beatrice Kung'u admitted that several Kenyans, who accompanied the Nigerians deported 10 days ago, were still being held in Lagos.
But she could not discuss the circumstances under which the Nigerian authorities were detaining them.
"We are addressing the issue," she said, but added that only the Immigration authorities could discuss the details.
Principal Secretary in the Interior ministry Mutea Iringo on Sunday said he was yet to receive information on the plight of the crew, but said he would check with the police.
They lost contact with the deportees after they arrived in Nigeria, the PS, under whose ministry Immigration falls, said.
