Kenneth Omiti - Ochieng Nelly ft Winyo & Eddie Grey
Published on Oct 7, 2012

Ochieng' Nelly comesfrom the generation of Kenyan musicians of yester years who travelled across east and central Africa practicing their music craft, all the while adding to their arsenal and music skill. Ochieng developed his own unique style of playing guitar, that went on to be a big influence in the development of Benga music in Kenya.

In this video, we witness the fusion of time, the beginning merging into the future, when Ochieng Nelly from the pioneers era is joined on stage by two young musicians who bear the responsibility of taking what he started, into the future.

Enjoy Kenneth Omiti, played by Ochieng' Nelly featuring Winyo on vocals and Eddie Grey on guitar.

Ojijo & Misiani: Owako Janyakach
Uploaded on Dec 9, 2011

This is from a series of unique recordings of benga with GEORGE RAMOGI, OWINO MISIANI, GEORGE OJIJO AND OCHIENG' NELLY MENGO TOGETHER.

Anyone with a muttering of benga knowledge will suspect what that means! Lets roll. Witness that base which would later be a Shirati trade mark with notorious belchers like Otieno wuod Owawa Gor Jang'adre and Arito wuod nyar Karemo.

Paul Orwa Jasolo -Madam Sophy Abungu
Uploaded on Jul 24, 2011

Paul Orwa Jasolo now a Benga elder. Achieved fame in CK Dumbe Dumbe with his agemates Ramogi, Ojijo and Ochieng' Nelly for his talent on the solo guitar. I caught him in Kisumu performing separately with Ochieng' Nelly early this year. This is from his 'new' recordings from the rejuvenation period when most of these veterans returned to the scene from oblivion.
The other tracks in this CD are: Awiti Jamawego, Bonyo Kolage, Chief Ogweno. I actually didnot know he had recorded! A nice surprise.
