Dear Kenyans of good will.
The Hon.Gitobu Imanyara has only been compensated by justice and has nothing to do with richness.At the time,he underwent trials in which he could have made wealth like any other kenyan but chose the spirits of the nonagenerian Nelson Rolilhalha Mandela alias Madiba.
It takes time and sacrifices to produce the likes of Madiba,Imanyara,Oginga Odinga,Wagari Maathai,Tom Mboya and the likes.
To jog our memory,here are the ailing Mandelas statements that might have inspired Hon.Imanyara;-
During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.
Friends, comrades and fellow South Africans, I greet you all in the name of peace, democracy and freedom for all. I stand here before you not as a prophet but as a humble servant of you, the people. Your tireless and heroic sacrifices have made it possible for me to be here today. I therefore place the remaining years of my life in your hands.
It is never my custom to use words lightly. If twenty-seven years in prison have done anything to us, it was to use the silence of solitude to make us understand how precious words are and how real speech is in its impact on the way people live and die.
I hope that our movement will always hold that commitment to non-racialism dear in its thoughts, policies and actions. It is that commitment, even in circumstances where we could have been pardoned for deviating from it, that amongst other things earned us the respect of the world.
Even though past issues of Nairobi Law montly Magazine makes a great Library,Imanyara can still sum up the issues that made the themes of his writings to spell to us what made him tick and do an autograph Like Agwambo that can only call or demand a counter from octogerian Moi to avoid any misunderstanding.

I would have been happier if Moi himself had to pay this money. It's unfair for Taxpayers to cover for the misdeeds of Moi. No Kenyan gave him a mandate to detain anyone.

National Bank of Kenya is seeking for an order requiring the MP to pay the loan he took eight years ago. Imanayara however wants the case to go to full trial arguing that a summary judgment will deny him a day in court to defend himself. Though his advocate, the MP claims there are triable issues which have been raised in his defence. The issues are said to be statements of account and interest charged on the said loan.National Bank of Kenya through its advocate Samuel Karanja says the issue of interest and account is contractual and documents supporting the said facts are exhibited in court. Karanja told Commercial Court Judge Muga Apondi that the issues cannot be said to be triable and the suit should be dismissed. NBK sued the MP for defaulting to pay a loan he had taken and subsequently hiding two vehicles he had provided as security.The cars that the MP had used to secure the loan were of registration numbers KAK 171E and KAM 755B. Imanyara acknowledges that he took a loan of Sh1million in the year 2003 which he had applied as tuition fees for his son. He however disagrees that he defaulted, adding he has completed his loan plus its interest. He also denies that he has withheld the two cars from the bank.According to Imanyara's defense the bone of contention is the interest he was supposed to pay for the principal amount. The bank in its plaint is asking the court to order Imanyara to pay Sh2.8 million with an interest of 21 per cent from 1 December of 2008 until the day the case is settled. Imanyara is questioning the difference of sh800,000. He says the interest cannot exceed the principal amount borrowed. The court will on 30 November deliver a ruling on whether the case shall go into full trial.
