[wanabidii] English Pronunciation

Please forgive my pedantic nature but I ran into yet another pronunciation faux pas by a Kenyan TV journalist who was reporting about some court case involving an election petition.

The words were:
Aspirant
(mgombea);
Reprimand
(warn, admonish, caution, kuonya).

Using Swahili as the base for pronunciation;

For Reprimand, she said:  Ri-p-ra-i-ma-nd
The correct way is:              Re-pri-ma-nd

For Aspirant, she said:       As-pa-i-ra-n-t
The correct way is:               As-pi-ra-n-t

Now, another word that I heard an Indian massacring in downtown Toronto:

Revere
(to idolize, hold in very high esteem, almost kuabudu, respect greatly)

Revere
The Indian said:             Ri-vaa
 He should have said:    Ri-vii-ya

Thank you and I hope this helps someone out there who was not sure.

Courage
