Re: [wanabidii] The test of a true friend

Yes Ezekiel, it's very tricky and costly because you will not be going to work as usual and not bringing in the kind of money you're used to making. I guess you have to plan for this in advance by saving for it so you can at least manage life in Kinondoni.

Courage

Yes Ezekiel; it works for married men too. But since the wife will know where you work and may want to go there to confirm, you have to have your boss in on the scam. Your boss has to make it look like you have been fired so all the employees "know" that you're no longer working there. Go live in a Kinondoni somewhere with the wife and fake financial hardship for 6 months. But watch her step. Before you know it, she will have some Mipang ya Kandos (affairs) with the people that you used to work or socialize with. You will be able to determine withing 2 - 3 months if she loves you or your money.

What about for married men if they want to know if their spouses still love them, will this theory work?

Peter,

If you want to know your true friends, go rent a house in a very poor area and tell your friends that you lost your job and you need to borrow money. Invite them to come over and make them strong tea with almost no sugar and pretending the whole time that money is very tight.
You will find out who the  true friends  are in less than 1 week.

I did that once and it helped me get rid of all the phony and fake friends.

Or approach a women and be "honest' about your lack of job and money and how your rent is behind by 2 months. If any woman still listens to you and loves you, marry that woman. She truly loves you.

Hi every one!

The test of a true friend is where they stand during our times of need and adversity. The English writer and literary critic John Churton Collins knew this well.

"In prosperity, our friends know us; in adversity, we know our friends." – John Churton Collins.

Although this truth is not in the Bible, we do find in the Bible that a friend loves at all times, and that a brother is born for adversity. This takes the idea of friendship and brotherly love to much higher level. Yes, like Collins says, friends will stay by us in good and bad times. But in the Book of Proverbs we see that the purpose of a true brother or sister is to be there in times of adversity; it is what we are born to do.

I encourage us all to be good friends to each other, and to be brothers and sisters to each other, and to stick with each other in both good times and bad.
