Menelik African Diaspora Advances African Liberation Year GA – "If Africa in not free, I am not free" declared the former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney who spoke with sadness of the state of Black people across the world during the African Diaspora forum in Georgia to help kick-off African Liberation Year. As part of the solution, she agreed to work with the WADU leadership to promote the Pan Africa agenda and African Liberation Year beginning May 25, 2013. This May 25 will mark the official launching of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963, now the African Union (AU) as the main Pan African organization responsible for the freedom of all Africans, worldwide. The AU, headquartered in Ethiopia, is urging all Africans across the world to honor the 50th anniversary with activities un der the theme "Pan Africanism and the African Renaissance." In the January 2013 AU Summit, the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma called for the upcoming OAU anniversary as a time to reflect and revive the models of those like President Kwame Nkrumah in his "single-mindedness and strength to achieve the mission of the social and economic liberation of our continent. On April 8, 2013, she added "We Africans, from within and outside the continent, must pay tribute to those who planted the seeds of Panafricanism for us and paved the way for a united, prosperous and peaceful Africa." The public forum in Georgia was also convened as a response to the increased attacks against Black people across the globe now seen as assaults against the very core of Pan Africanism and the African renaissance. Minister Akbar Muhammad warned that the U.S. government deployment of American troops and drones across Africa in its "humanitarian war" against "Muslim extremists" by an African American president are very dangerous foreign policy objectives. He stressed that the assassination of President Khadafy and destruction of Libya have severely undermined the work of the AU for a self-determined Pan African government to protect African people. For decades, Minister Akbar Muhammad worked under the leadership of Pan Africanists such as Malcolm Omowale Shabazz, Elijah Muhammad and now Minister Louis Farakhan to support domestic, Diaspora and foreign policy issues relevant to the advancement of Africa and African people. Minister Akbar had also just arrived from the successful WADU forum in Washington, DC promoting Africa Year. In Baba Mukasa Dada rousing address, he reminded the public of the U.S. government's role in terrorizing Black people, Black leaders and African nations. He cited Dr. Martin King description of the U.S. government as the greatest purveyor of violence is relevant today, 50 years ago, since slavery and that the imperialist nations have attacked almost every nation on the earth. Baba Mukasa played a pivotal role in the trenches of the U.S. freedom movement and the liberation of Africans across the world. The Co-chair of WADU Georgia, Mr. Kofi Adjei of West Africa pleaded with the multitude representing the African world to continue prioritizing Africa stating "Africa is still under attack because of its abundance of wealth and that "this wealth of Africa belongs to Africans in Africa and those in the African Diaspora." Minister Menelik called the meeting a gathering for the propagation the "Good News" of Pan Africanism and emphasized the need for Diaspora leaders to strengthen its union to effectively influence outcomes for an immediate union government of Africa, economic self-reliance, Pan African education and to counter the threats facing Africa and African people, worldwide. WADU is urging all Black people to be more unified to promote the unfinished work for a union government espoused by great Pan Africanists during the upcoming OAU 50th anniversary year.
