If I should apply myself to define what you have outlined below I would end in the woods of pessimism. Instead I should look at them from a prism of materialism held with souls immersed in commercialization of as many aspects of life as self feels suitable and society is willing to sanction.
To unpack it let us look at a few examples.
Instead of reading, believers listen only. In this commercialized word there are too many voices to hear. I would rather read the source-The Bible-then get down to the truth and truth only. That was I can discern God's word from tradition. Tradition changes, God's truth does not. Tradition may create demand and products for sale--concerts, volumes of books, music to appeal to human sensuous nature- God's word is free and available to everyone.
Instead of seeking Godly guidance, believers seek instructions from preachers(pronounce watumishi).
Thanks for watumishi, as they were God's mouthpieces even in the old times. But, God distinguished His watumishi by putting His word and His deed in them. Their priority was never in shaping God's word to suit the tradition of the time. On the contrary they preached revival from tradition, heresy, falsehood. They directed unbelieving government leaders(of their times), idol worshiping nations to worship the Creator, the Sustainer and Redeemer of Human Kind. Today, watumishi build their utumishi(or huduma) around such deliverables as numbers of church goers, wealth, popularity and social approval.
As I said, trying to ruminate in the degradation of Christianity may fulfill not the mission of salvation but description of the mammoth power of the evil. Instead I invite however feels a need to reside closer and closer to the Creator, Redeemer and the same who is coming again, to read His word, pray and whenever, opportunity arises influence one person to sense the need to return to the roots of our origin. For in the end it is your faith to God that will make a difference in the world ever speeding to its inevitable doom.
