It is one sad day for us in Kenya yet again. Our People are getting killed and apparently, this is not moving our leadership into action. One loss of life is such a painful experience. The Clean Kenya Campaign wants to stand in solidarity with all Kenyans who continue to loose their beloved in the several senseless killings taking place across Kenya. Shame on the reluctant leadership that we have saddled ourselves with.
In our planning session for the Massive Market Shut Down in Nairobi on the 10th October 2012, we joked about how lethargic our leadership has become. We have people who have been placed in positions of leadership and charged with Policy Formulation, Analysis and Implementation. And sadly, a few of them have simply refused to think. In modern times, I really wonder how somebody could plan for Muthurwa Market, implement his thought process and then sit back satisfied that he has done some good work. He must be a he. Women do not engage in such sloth. The pathetic state of our Markets all around Kenya leads one to only one logical conclusion; someone is refusing to think, and yet, he is being paid to think. Now, can we build modern Markets for our Traders across Kenya? This would basically mean, pulling down the ram shackles of markets that we do have now, excavate two levels downwards to provide for Parking, and build 4 Storeys upwards to accommodate the many Traders who want to eke out honest living by selling. This is possible. We only need to engage honest people in positions of power. Men and Women who will think and implement Policy that they can sit back and feel proud about. Not the people who planned the Massive Rip-off that is Muthurwa Market.
Honestly, how does the guy- he must be a he, who designed and built Muthurwa Market feel? Does he feel that he advanced the course of Mother Kenya? Is he happy with the kind of roads he dug through- again, those are not roads. They are cattle trucks and they are pathetic. Yet, someone is sitting very comfortable in our Government Offices, proud that he did his fair share of Nation Building! Look at the winding Fly Overs this guy built for us at Muthurwa? Three very useless Fly-Overs- all leading to nowhere. Where on Planet Earth have you ever seen such Fly Overs? They are only unique to Muthurwa and they cannot be found any where else in this Planet Earth. And yet, someone actually sat down to plan for this!
But the guy is happy that he did his bit and now, he is sitting pretty in our Government's Office, satisfied. These are the kind of shameless men we have in the Public Service. Men who care less as they refuse to think for the general good of Mother Kenya. Kenyans must be annoyed. We must be very annoyed to have such worthless characters in our Government. To them, Public Service is equal to personal aggrandizement; a theory where you eat to your fill without regard to the effects of such gluttony on the society. They are puking over our shoes and expecting us to salute them for holding such lofty offices in society. Your time is up and soon and very soon, we will be seeking answers from you. The evils that you have visited on the People of Kenya will soon catch up with you, and the People are going to hold each one of these thieving Public Servants to account.
We are meeting with all the Market Leaders from all the 53 Markets in Nairobi on the 19th September 2012 at Charter Hall to help plan for the Massive Market Shut Down in Nairobi on the 10th October 2012. We are happy that the event will be hosted and chaired by The Deputy Town Clerk at the City Council of Nairobi and attended by several Provincial Administration Officials from all the 9 Districts of Nairobi, several Departmental Heads at the Council and a few other invited Guests. We are also happy that several Groups have started writing to us indicating their willingness to join with us on the 10th October 2012 to help clean our Markets. This only shows us that what we are lacking in Kenya is Leadership and Commitment. The People are eager and ready, but where on Earth is the Leadership?
If our Markets can get it right, then, we are on the right truck towards a Clean Kenya. Let us all work for a Clean Kenya as a Transformative Deliverable as we turn 50.
