Dear Maurice,
I am happy I met Mwalimu Julius Nyerere in person in London in August 1990 and we had a long conversation in the context of my PhD study of the speeches of Mwalimu Nyerere and the influence these speeches had developments relating to post-colonial Pan-African leadership styles and the substance behind such styles in the presence of the then Tanzania High Commissioner to the UK, Hon. Mr. John Malecela and the journalist-cum-diplomat Ulli Mwambulukutu. I will never forget that intellectual encounter. I unfortunately never met Malcom X but throughtout my youth I listened a lot to audio tapes of his speeches, especially the one called Message to the Grassroots, where he talks of field niggers who pray for the wind to burn down the master's house when it happens to be on fire and the house niggers who mutter "me sick" whenever the master happens to be sick! My research on the speeches of Mwalimu Nyerere was inspired my listening to Malcom X's speeches. Find the speeches of Mwalimu Nyerere and the speeches of Malcom X and you will meet , in spirit, with these two great leaders of the Global Pan African Nationalist Movement again and again. They truly believed that ALL human Beings were Equal and Africa was One!!!
