Re: [wanabidii] Of war and dying for my country: The case of Lake Malawi

Mr. Charles Banda after I have read your article I
realised that we have some people on both sides of the lake who have
this hind sight and are also long sighted on the issue at hand. It is
very sad that some people on both sides of the lake (Nyasa/Malawi)
should be talking of WAR being a solution to this diplomatic
stand-off!! Let us be very clear, what has happened or is happening
now needs to be handled with care. Cool headed high profile leaders
from both sides of the lake, must deliberate in all aspects carefully.
It is quite suprising that this situation has changed after the so
called International Corporates have come to give a hand to Malawi and
conduct the survey on the possibility of OIL and GAS, and guess who?
However, this is not the issue at hand, the issue is can we the post
colonial countries reach an amicable solution which will benefit both
sides of the lake? We know there are a lot of so called evidence since
the 19th, 20th and latest 21st Centuries on the issue at hand but this
should not blind fold us on the fact that we are brothers and
sisters.Take any African country the borders divided tribes, clans and
families even properties this is a fact. Now should we call back the
Germans and the British to come and resolve the border disputes cause
are the ones who came-up with these FUNNY arrangements for their own
conveniences during the COLONIAL ERA? A BIG NO is the answer,
therefore it is us who should agree to agree and say this is the right
thing to do for the mutual benefit of the two countries without any of
us losing head or face!

Thanks
