Kumekuwa na ongezeko kubwa sana la uhitaji wa samaki si Tanzani tu bali duniani kote kunakotokana na sababu kuu mbili:
1. Watu wengi wameanza kukimbia kula nyama nyekundu kwa vile zin kiwango kikubwa cha kolestero inayosababisha magonjwa ya moyo pale inapozidi kiwango kinachohitajika mwilini.
2. Kupungua kwa samaki kwenye vyanzo vya asili vinavyozalisha samaki kama mito, maziwa, mabwawa na bahari kunakotokana na uvuvi haramu huku idadi ya watu ikiongezeka kila siku.
Kutokana na sababu hizo na nyinginezo, watu wengi sana hapa kwetu na kwingineko wameamua kuingia kwenye ufugaji wa samaki na wengine wanatamani kuanza ufugaji. Tatizo limekuwa ni kutokuwa na elimu ya ufugaji wa samaki hata kama uwezo wanao. Hapa nawaleteni elimu ya ufugaji wa samaki itakayo muwezesha mtu yeyote yule kuanza ufugaji kama anamtaji tena haihitaji mtaji mkubwa sana.
